2026 ELECTION

Notice is hereby given that a vote of Town of Swan River will be taken to elect Mayor from the following duly nominated:

              

For the office of Mayor :

1. Ainslie White

2. Lance Jacobson

 

VOTING PLACES

 

Voting places will be open for voting on Wednesday the 28th day of October 2026 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. at: the Veterans Hall

               

IDENTIFICATION WILL BE REQUIRED BEFORE BEING ALLOWED TO VOTE.  A person may be required to produce one piece of government issued photo identification (for example - driver’s license or passport) or at least two other documents that provide proof of identity.

ADVANCE VOTING

For the purpose of accommodating persons who are qualified to vote, but who have reason to believe that they will be absent or otherwise unable to attend their proper voting place on election day, an advance voting opportunity will be located at Veterans Hall and will be open on the following day Tuesday October 20th between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.


Council members elected by Acclamation

Whereas a poll is not required pursuant to The Municipal Election Act and the following persons have been elected by acclamation for the office of Councillor for the Town of Swan River.

RESOURCES FOR VOTERS

Additions to the Voters List and/or

Personal Security Protection Requests

TOWN OF SWAN RIVER

In accordance with Section 36 of The Municipal Councils and School Boards Election Act (MCSBEA), the Town of Swan River’s Voters List is open for changes or revisions.

 Any person who is eligible to vote in municipal elections in the Local Authority of Swan River can have his or her name added to the Voters List, or have any information about the voter on the Voters List corrected.

  • Any person can request to have his or her name and address obscured from the Voters List.

            A person whose name has been obscured will receive a Personal Security Certificate and identification number.  That person may only vote by Sealed Envelope Ballot and cannot vote in person at the regular or advance voting places.

To implement the above, a written request must be submitted to the Senior Election Official, in person, by e-mail, or mail to:

2026 Municipal Election Application to Vote by Sealed Envelope A voter who is unable to go in person to the voting pace or vote in advance can: - Apply online at https://www.swanrivermanitoba.ca/p/election between September 29th and October 14th, 2026 and submit their application by email to election@townsr.ca or by mail. A voter applying this way will receive a sealed envelope ballot by regular post, or by making alternative arrangements with the SEO Or - Apply in person at the Municipal Office between September 29th and October 23rd, 2026. A voter applying this way may pick up a sealed envelope ballot at the time of application. Ballots must be received by 4:15 PM on October 28th, 2026
